Why would I buy an Electric Scooter?

An eScooter is an excellent solution to commute to work. The distance that can be traveled on an electric scooter can be from 10 miles up to a maximum of 30 miles. If it is more than that distance then public transport would be the next best solution and in fact, 30 miles is an extremely long commute by scooter. Of course, an attractive alternative to this is to consider an Electric Bike which is designed for longer distances.

There are a number of electric scooters available for under $500, and for those wanting a cheap commute there are plenty of choices out there. We have reviewed the 5 of the Cheapest Electric Scooters for 2021 to give you a head start  in what to look for

The explosion in use is mainly for leisure activities, exercising and generally getting out and about as well as catching up with friends in the outdoors. Very suitable for a short commute as well.

An eScooter can be an excellent alternative to an eBike, as it is very compact and easy to fold up. This makes it easy to take into the office, in elevators, even in restaurants or diners. Another consideration is if you only want to commute part of the way on your scooter, from your apartment to the subway or other public transport, and then from the subway to your office, a scooter is a perfect solution

Benefits of owning and electric scooter

  • Lots of fun – apart from commuting, just so much fun during leisure time
  • Easy to park – well no need to park really, just throw over a shoulder and carry it with you, even easier if the handle folds
  • Saves time – quick to get out the door and to public transport, or even to get to the office
  • No or minimal licensing requirements – eScooters travel at much slower speeds than eBikes and therefore are not restricted by licensing requirements
  • Very portable – easy to carry onto all types or public transport or carry around a shopping mall navigating escalators
  • Easy on the environment – no CO2 emissions

And we should look at the potential downside

Disadvantages of owning an electric scooter

  • More accidents – with more eScooters out and about that travel at a constant speed there is the possibility of more accidents
  • Get left behind – although minimal yes some absent-minded person could forget theirs, but if you are the absent-minded type just have a location tracker on it
  • Cannot travel long distances – good quality eScooters will get you a distance of approximately 30 miles which is pretty good, and if the travel is further, use your eScooter with public transport
  • Easy to steal – this is a minor issue as an eScooter can be kept very close to your person, as well as using a tracking device. Scooters are also small enough to be stored in lockers which also alleviate the problem

In our view all of the disadvantages can be easily overcome and their are more benefits than those that we have listed
